The world-wide economic climate and employment levels have changed dramatically over the last few months and the Australian Government has amended its immigration targets to address the changed conditions.
The Government has not announced any cuts in regard to the projected quotas for skilled and business migration for 2009 but has prioritised the processing of applications lodged by three groups of people:
The first group involve people with an occupation listed on the Critical Skills List (view current list);
The second group are those sponsored by a State Government; and
The third group are those sponsored by an employer.
